Legal fees: £800.00 – £2,000.00 + VAT

Obtaining the Grant of Probate
Completing relevant HMRC Inheritance Tax forms (IHT205 or IHT400, as applicable)
Liaising with financial institutions and collecting estate assets
Preparing estate accounts
Distributing the estate to beneficiaries

Disbursements

These are fees paid to third parties during the probate process. We will handle payment on your behalf to ensure a smooth process. Typical disbursements include:

Probate court fee: £300.00
Sealed copies of Grant: £1.50 each
Oath swearing: £20.00 per executor
Will/Codicil exhibition: £2.00 per document
Bankruptcy search (Land Charges Department): £6.00 per beneficiary
Statutory notice in The London Gazette: £62.15
Local newspaper notice: £125.00 – £200.00 (varies by publication)
Land Registry fees: Varies depending on property value (see HM Land Registry website)

Note: Disbursements do not include estate-specific bills such as funeral expenses, utilities, or tax liabilities.
